Wide receivers Williams, Rice will play in Dallas
By Liz Mathews
Wide receiver Mike Williams will play this Sunday in Dallas, although head coach Pete Carroll has yet to name him a starter.
"Mike will play," Carroll said after Friday's walk-through. "We're going to see how that all works out by game time."
Williams had been limited in practice throughout the week, still hindered by the hamstring injury that rendered him a surprise inactive before last Sunday's game. He was also sidelined against the New York Giants earlier in the season with a concussion.
Ben Obomanu started both games in Williams' place.
Williams has only logged nine receptions for 89 yards and one touchdown this season. Obomanu has posted over double that -- with 21 receptions for 242 yards and two touchdowns. The Seahawks had signed both receivers to three-year contract extensions at the end of last season.
"Mike's good -- he's great," Carroll said when asked about Williams' attitude as of late. "Mike was trying to make it through it last week, really get through it and we didn't find out until right before game time, so he's trying to tough it out. He's ready to get back in and battle.
"He's going to play a lot this week."
So is wide receiver Sidney Rice, who was given a veteran rest day on Thursday and listed on the practice report with a foot injury. On the season, Rice has 24 receptions for 366 yards and a touchdown, trailing only undrafted rookie Doug Baldwin who remains the team's leading receiver.
"Sidney is fine," Carroll said on Friday. "He practiced all day today. He needed a little break yesterday, so we did that and he came back and practiced the whole time today."
The Seahawks also have a decision to make regarding whether or not to activate Deon Butler, who spent the first six weeks of the season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. The team currently has six wide receivers on the active roster and it is doubtful they would carry seven at the the position.
“We’ve made it through the week intact, so we’ll reevaluate next week," Carroll said of Butler.
The Seahawks have until next Tuesday to pull the trigger on Butler.

On Friday morning, Pro Football Weekly released a video entitled "Squabble in Seattle," reporting a potential rift in the Seattle Seahawks' front office.
"What we are hearing out of the great Northwest is that the marriage of convenience between Seahawks President and Director of Football Operations and head coach Pete Carroll and his general manager John Schneider, could be on rocky ground," Hub Arkush, publisher of the site, said in the video.
"As a matter of fact," Arkush said, "Carroll is very unhappy with a lot of the moves that Schneider has made this past offseason."
The video was removed from the website on Friday afternoon.
Carroll was asked to comment at the beginning of his Friday post-practice press conference.
"There was some report or something that John (Schneider) and I don't get along or something and I think that's extraordinarily irresponsible," Carroll said early Friday afternoon. "It's inaccurate, it's lazy and I wouldn't believe a word they said. That's so far from the truth. John and I are as close as it can get. I've never been any closer to anybody I've ever worked with. Every decision we make, we make together, so they don't even understand. I don't know who those guys were or where they came from, but they're dead wrong."
"They know nothing," Carroll continued. "They never talk to us. They've never seen us. They know nothing about what we're all about. But it does show that the media can say whatever they want to say. That's what just happened. Those guys said whatever they wanted to say and they have no backing and no truth. They never talked to us or anything. It was really weak,"
710 ESPN Seattle spoke with Arkush Friday evening.
"We had a number of sources," Arkush said of the decision to remove the video. "It obviously struck a nerve with them. I think they made a much bigger deal out of it than they should have. At any rate, they wanted to talk, and we talked. They assured me that the report was inaccurate."
Arkush said that he spoke to both Carroll and Schneider around 4 p.m. PT, and that the conversation lasted approximately 10-15 minutes.
"They did not ask us to take down the video at all," Arkush said. "I decided that if it is their position that the report is not accurate, there is no point in rubbing salt in the wound, and I took the video down."
Arkush said the removal of the video was not a retraction of the report.
"After we got off the phone, I thought about it and I figured if that's the way they feel there is no point in leaving the video up," Arkush explained. "We believe the reporting was a perfect job of reporting. If you are asking me whether or not I think they were lying to me? No I don't think they were lying to me."
At the time of this report, the video has not been reposted on the Pro Football Weekly website.

By Liz Mathews
The Seahawks placed defensive end Dexter Davis on Injured Reserve Saturday morning, ending his season. Davis was originally selected by the Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2010 draft out of Arizona State.
"Dexter has some problems," head coach Pete Carroll said during his Friday press conference. "We’ve got some stuff that we need to make sure of but I don’t know what the status of it is today but once I get back in we’ll let you know.”
Davis, a major contributor on special teams, has been plagued with a lingering hip issue.
"We have four core guys that aren’t playing in this game from last week," Carroll said of the special teams. "So we had a lot of work to catch some guys up. We had to make some decisions how to do that and to get that done. But we feel very good about it and the plan that we allows even the alternative guys that have to come off the bench to play and understand what’s happening.
"So they need to come through, they need to step up. We definitely had a falter last week late and we can’t let that happen.”
Fullback Michael Robinson and cornerback Byron Maxwell, who both suffered injuries in last week's game, have been ruled out for Sunday. Linebacker Malcolm Smith is officially listed as "doubtful," but is not expected to play.
To fill Davis' spot on the active roster, the team has re-signed cornerback Kennard Cox. Cox had spent training camp with the Seahawks, but was released on Sept. 3.
