The Toothpick/Beard Challenge 2011
Yesterday, Sean may or may not have set a Seattle record by putting 1000 toothpicks in his beard. Watch it happen here: I don't think anyone needs to try this at home. Let's just let this "record" stand. - Jen 9 Comments | Share this | Permalink

Today on TBTL: Ben Gibbard Chats About Death Cab's Awesome Live Video. I got a cryptic text from listener Sue yesterday at 3:58pm, it simply read 'you are a tourist, live, 2 minutes'. I had no idea what she was talking about. It turns out it was this: (A super awesome live video that Death Cab performed on Ustream at exactly 4pm yesterday). Oh, and if you're feeling like a loser because Sue knew about this live thing and you didn't, you shouldn't. Her kid is actually in the band. Also today, TBTL is Call-Makers/Takers(?). It's wednesday so we're going to take some calls from you (if folks are into it) or make some calls to you (if we're into it. The number to call us is 206-723-TBTL. We'll give the shout out on the webcast when we're ready to chat with you. See you @2pm. -- Luke Burbank 6 Comments | Share this | Permalink

Wanna see "the beard" I know many of you are watching your calendars in anticipation of the "Toothpick/Beard Challenge 2011" coming soon... Here's the beard:
Here's the plan from Sean: The toothpick challenge is happening thursday and i'm blocking out 2 hrs. or how ever long it takes to complete. it'll be videotaped and i'm weirded out by standing in the newsroom doing this . I'm going to attempt 500 toothpicks. I really don't know how to gauge how many i should try for. Here's the "record holder": Godspeed, Sean. By the way, I get a lot of requests for the "tons of effing risotto" recipe that Sean mastered last month; here's the link. - Jen 0 Comments | Share this | Permalink

Notes from the weekend Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert made my "Friday" dreams come true . (Watch for a Soul Patrol surprise)
With limited movie choices here in Fort Wayne, I ended up at The Lincoln Lawyer and was surprised to find myself completely entertained. The story by Michael Connelly was really good with a plot that made sense. The casting was just right with McConaughey finding his perfect role and great support from Marisa Tomei, William H. Macy and Bryan Cranston. It was a little sexy, a little funny and had just the right amount of tension.
And finally, the first rule on Celebrity Apprentice (thanks to Gawker for the screenshot): Don't whisper in a deaf person's ear

Today: Josh Foer On Harnessing the Power of Lingerie Models To Build A World-Class Memory.
Tune in today to hear Josh Foer discuss his descent into competitive memorization, how a Victoria's Secret Model helped him, and the surprising ways in which people living thousands of years ago were pretty dialed in when it came to brain stuff. It's all detailed in his amazing new book, 'Moonwallking With Einstein'. Here he is on Colbert talking about the project: PROGRAMMING NOTE: no webcast today (or most Fridays if you've noticed). It's the day our combination skin really flares up and you just don't need to see that. -- Luke Burbank 1 Comment | Share this | Permalink1
