Are you ready boots?

…start walking, because there are some fabulous spring shoes that make you look just plain boring.
Alice + Olivia debuted their new shoe collection, a mix of colorful, chic sandals that clearly complement the brand’s feminine style. And Leifsdotter, one of my new favorite lines, recently launched a new line of shoes that are so hipster-chic.

And Elizabeth & James – WHERE do I begin. I found a fantastic pair of wedges that are unlike any other I’ve seen. Pair these with maxi dresses, loose linen trousers, or just about any spring-like outfit.

Our thriftinastas can take note: B.P. by Nordstrom has some amazing sandals! They’re super comfortable, incredibly fashion forward, and will go with nearly every outfit. These brown thongs also come in bronze and teal (reminds you of the beach, right?) and have a fun zipper up the back.
Happy shopping!
It's finally here...

Spring has officially arrived! I can tell by strolling by some of my favorite stores to window shop. I'm currently obsessed with a white ceramic Marc by Marc Jacobs watch and these amazing, colorful silk tanks by Joie.
But nothing says spring than pastel-colored pants. I was initially shocked by the return of white jeans (the horror!) but when I started seeing blue, yellow, green, even purple, pants - I immediately got the feeling spring is finally in the air.
I'm really excited about the colorful maxi dresses, bathed in a light wash of watercolor flower detailing, lining the racks of Nordstrom. I'm also excited about these gorgeous, lightweight linen trousers that would be perfect to wear on a sunny day at the beach (on the California coast, not Seattle, let's be real here).
Here are some of my very favorite pieces thus far:

Does this creep anyone out besides me? From Fashionista.com: Vogue Enfants, the latest installment from the go-to-fashion mag, Vogue, features tykes wearing trendy clothes with a fashionable pout on their sweet little faces. After browsing through some of the photos from the magazine (all of which were beautifully done, nonetheless), I realized I was a little freaked out too. I found myself admiring some of the clothes as if the girl were the same age as me, and it was a bit awkward to see a 6-year-old posing with her hand on her hip and a serious, come-hither look in her eyes. I know models keep getting younger and younger (some runway models are 13-years-old), but this may just be pushing it a little.

I'm probably a little late in the game on this, but I just stumbled on this fabulous website! SeenOn.com features amazing private sales on clothes, accessories, handbags, and more. Some of these items are featured on popular TV shows (Project Runway, for example). It's a members only site, so you'll need to sign up to gain access to these awesome deals. Like Groupon and other online deals, there's a countdown until the sale is officially over.
Did I read this right? Hypercolor nails?!? Yep, it's true. Just like the popular t-shirts in the 90's that turned a different color depending on your body temperature, this nail polish by In the Mood comes in a variety of color combinations (blue/green, pink/purple, etc.) and adjusts its coloring depending on your body temperature. That means you'll always have a french manicure when you wear this polish - obviously your nail beds are much warmer than your tips.

Have you heard about this amazing new product that lets you apply multiple shades in one step? It's a brilliant concept - that is, unless you really know how to apply eye makeup. Loreal's One Sweep Eye Shadow palette, complete with a curved sponge applicator, promises to give you the perfect shadow application in one easy step. I seriously LOVE the idea of cutting down my eye makeup application with just one sweep of a curved shadow brush, but after trying it out, it's a little difficult to precisely apply the product with my particular eye shape. That being said, if you have more almond-shaped eyes, this product will probably fare a little better for you. But I'll try it out again - maybe it's a case of practice makes perfect. Plus, it's a really cool idea by Loreal.

One of John Galliano's runway models is absolutely gorgeous. Her hair, makeup, skin - all flawless. Except, it's not a "her" - it's a "him". No joke. Andrej Pejic, one of Galliano's new models, was seen at Galliano's recent show strutting down the runway, wearing fabulous couture designed by one of the greatest designers out there. If Pelic had the option, she (he?) said he (she?!) would get a sex change if offered her (him!) a Victoria's Secret contract. I don't care if it's a guy or girl, she's gorgeous!

Forget pants. Forget boots. Put them together, you get pant-boots. So much easier than trying to match your jeans with your shoes! Hermes recently revealed a very odd design concept of what many editors are calling "pant boots". Some even say "Poots". I want to buy them just so I can ask the salesperson for some "Poots" in a size 7. Or would I need to give them my waist size?

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards boasted more fashion than disaster...a thought that pleased both of us immensely!
Stefanie...These were my thoughts during the Oscars red carpet pre-show on E! (in order of appearance):
What? Oh, that's nice. Really? Oh god. WHAT? Wow, that's pretty. That's even hotter! Love it!
At first, I thought there were going to be a TON of horrendous dresses gracing the red carpet this year. I was scared when I saw actress Sunrise Coigney, wife of Mark Ruffalo, wearing a dress that looked like a cancerous growth was emerging underneath her dress. But then I saw some absolutely STUNNING dresses, which made me so happy.
Lisa...watched channel 4 coverage as well as E! coverage and first launch onto carpet was Jennifer Lawrence from Winter's Bone...red, simply stated and no jewelry...this should be interesting...camera's cut to Sunrise and I actually gasp...is it half tuxedo with a gold body suit underlay...oh no! Overall I loved the fashion and the night did not disappoint!
The fav's:

Halle Berry
Stefanie - This gorgeous Marchesca gown was at the top of my list for "Best Dressed" this year. Halle's skin tone was beautiful against the nude tone of the dress, and the sparkly overlay was just the icing on the cake.
Lisa - Couldn't agree more with best dressed...this was made for her beautiful figure. Absolutely flawlessly stunning!

Natalie Portman
Stefanie - Can she pull of a baby bump or what? I loved the eggplant/maroon color and the neckline was beautiful. I wish her hair was styled a little differently, but other than that, she looked absolutely amazing.
Lisa - She literally glows in this plum color...cant remember an expectant mother looking this fabulous time and time again on the red carpet. Was a big win all the way around for this leading lady.

Mila Kunis
Stefanie - The gorgeous, lavender Elie Saab couture dress was a standout among all the black, red, and nude gowns gracing the red carpet this year. Her hair and makeup was perfect too!
Lisa - loved the color and the style...thought the lace pasty peekaboo top was a little risque but she pulled it off.

Reese Witherspoon
Stefanie - Yeah, she looked a little like her Elle Woods character with the Barbie hair, but she was just so stinkin' cute in this Georgio Armani dress. The dress fit her figure perfectly, and I love how it complemented her bubbly personality!
Lisa - reminiscent of Julia Roberts red carpet stunner of '01 when she won for Erin Brockovich...liked the combo. She looks like a dress me up vintage Barbie.

Celine Dion
Stefanie - While I despise her music, I adored her beautiful dress this year. She looks amazing for her age, and the hair and makeup was spot-on.
Lisa - I enjoy small doses of her music and agree she did glow in this long sleeved Armani Prive...complete with a Titanic Diamond...nicely done Celine!

Hilary Swank
Stefanie - Another beautiful nude dress that looked beautiful on the red carpet. This was up there with Hilary's blue backless dress in 2004!
Lisa - Now this is how feathers should be worn...silver and sleek...this dress actually has a silver vertical zebra type print and is even more beautiful close up. SWANKY!
The misses~

Annette Benning
Stefanie - Sorry, but this was a disaster. The dress was too tight, the cut was completely wrong for her figure, and I hated the piping detail throughout the dress.
Lisa - Whoa! I am almost always a fan of what she wears and this was definitely a miss...great attempt but nada.

Melissa Leo
Stefanie - I didn't realize Victorian doilies were in style. Especially Victorian doilies that have been sitting in an antique shop for 100 years collecting dust and dirt.
Lisa - reflective(cutouts of lace were actual reflective silver pieces of something) fashion disaster by Mark Bauer...who should be ashamed...with a standup collar...come on this is a huge night and this is what you chose? A granny valence...Oh Good Lord!

Nicole Kidman
Stefanie - She looks like a gigantic fancy dinner napkin. And the color completely washed her out. WHY, Nicole, why?
Lisa - A gaudy kimono with a pony tail...looks like a hasty last minute decision to me. Whaaa whaaa!

Helena Bonham-Carter
Stefanie - The rats nest, velvet dress, and tacky tattoo made for an incredibly disgusting mess. I loved how they put Kelly Osbourne on the spot and asked her (in front of Helena) what she thought of the dress. I would have asked her to put herself out of her misery and just go home. No one wants to see that.
Lisa - I thought for the first time at least she didn't look like an Alice in Wonderland character...still not so much for fashion but way better than what she could have shown.

Sunrise Coigney
Stefanie - WORST. DRESS. EVER. It's a fight between a tuxedo, shoulder pad, and 80's gold cocktail dress. And she ultimately lost.
Lisa - What the....this is worse than a high school home ec attempt at fashion...mens blazer meets gold twine...there is just not a nice thing I can muster for this DISASTER.

Stefanie - At first, I thought Cate Blanchett's dress was horrendous, but when the camera pulled away, I took another look and thought it was actually pretty interesting. Her hair and makeup was so stunning, and the color was perfect for her complexion - and I hate to say it, but at the end of the awards ceremony, I actually liked the dress. It definitely stood out and was an interesting choice.
Lisa - I thought from the beginning to the end that this Jetson lilac with dandelion yellow accent was hideous...she is a beauty however the dress with it's reverse front cutout was NOT something I ever want to see risked again!
Other notables~

Marissa Tomei's dress was okay in some shots, but ultimately she looked like she was wearing two different dresses from two different decades. Finally, Scarlett Johansson's Dolce & Gabbana dress was beautiful in the back, gross in the front. It was outdated and what is the obsession with lace people?
What did you guys think? Any noteworthy red carpet disasters? Was there something else you absolutely loved? We'd love to hear your thoughts!

Calling all brides! Stop by Swink Style Bar Thursday night at 6 p.m. for fabulous food, wine, and free swag bags! You'll meet with bridal consultants, stylists, photographers, and Seattle-area wedding vendors. Be sure to say hi to my good friend, Mary-Kelly, who will be on hand to lend styling tips for your big day! If you're anything like me, you know how hard it is to find jewelry suitable for your wedding day at a reasonable price. She'll have every style of jewelry available for you to try on, courtesy of Stella & Dot Jewelry.

What do your stockings say about you? Apparently, a lot. I love to wear textured tights with dresses in the winter, but according to this article in the Wall Street Journal, that signals to others that I'm someone's assistant. And if you ever feel like wearing red hosiery (which I highly advise against), you'll look pretty "easy" in an office setting.

BREAKING NEWS!!! Jennifer Aniston chopped off her long locks! Justin Beiber loses his shag! Clearly, there are less important things in the world. (Kidding.) But really, I find it a little surprising that Jen's new hair is at the top of the fashion news lately. I'm not even going to post a photo of Justin Beiber's new 'do, I dislike him that much. But Jen's hair is pretty cute, right? It's a nice change... and I guarantee thousands of women will follow suit and get a bob just like Jen's.

Michelle Obama is in the fashion news again! The First Lady wore a $34.95 H & M dress on the Today Show Wednesday morning. The adorable navy and white polka dot dress was paired with fun yellow pumps and a wide orange belt. I love that she's effortlessly chic - and she has a variety of price points in her closet.

You're sitting at your desk, and all the sudden you realize you forgot to put on perfume this morning. Happens all the time, right? Luckily, Michael Kors is two steps ahead with his new "Perfume in a Pen." The designer's newest fragrance, Very Hollywood (which smells amazing, I might add), is tucked inside a gold and coral pen - perfect for writing fragrant love letters. A cute idea, but really?

Anthropologie, one of my favorite stores, recently launched a new bridal collection! BLHDN debuts on Valentine's Day (go figure) and is definitely a step up design-wise from other mid-level brands like J. Crew. I love the range in style and length of these dresses. However, some may argue it targets a very niche market. Prices range from $1,000 to $4,000. Definitely less expensive than designer gowns, which range from $4,000 to $30,000 plus, depending on the style and designer.

Jennifer Aniston launches a new fragrance! The scent, which includes top notes of citrus grove and rose water, will debut today at Sephora.com. You can pick up a bottle in person beginning March 3rd. Wonder if the scent drives men away after a couple months?

Guys, listen up - there's a new gift idea for Valentine's Day - and it involves satin underwear in your mailbox. Knickermail, launching just in time for the holidays, allows the customer to pick the color of panties (btw, I HATE that word), write a personalized message, and send it off to the "lucky" recipient. PERFECT for scary stalkers to send to their beloved.

In honor of the American Heart Society's Go Red for Women Campaign, tomorrow is National Wear Red Day! Go Red for Women has been helping fight cardiovascular disease (the number one killer of women) with this campaign, empowering women everywhere to take action against the disease through prevention, care, and support. So break out your red heels, a snappy red dress, or some fun accessories to help spread the word!

We agree that the fashion here was much better and more diverse than what was witnessed at Golden Globes and the queen of all fashion events is around the corner with the Acadamy Awards...
Here is who we thought put their best foot forward~

Tina Fey
Stef - HUGE surprise! She usually walks the red carpet in an unflattering black dress. This time, though, she dressed to impress in a red embellished Oscar de la Renta gown. Finally, she looks absolutely gorgeous!
Lisa - I agree with Stefanie on Tina even making this lest...she went way outside her boring box and found an embellished show stopper. Kudos to one of the funniest women on the planet!

Mila Kunis
Stef - So. Absolutely. Stunning. The floral print on her gown looked as if it was painted on with a fine-tipped watercolor brush. The color was gorgeous against her skin tone - and did you notice her ombre hair? Amazing.
Lisa - Loved the diversity of this flowing floral...very unique and she pulled it off with out being over the top.

Lea Michele
Stef - There's a reason she's on my list for "Best Dressed" every single awards show - it's because she's always the best dressed woman on the red carpet. This sleek Oscar de la Renta gown was perfect for the occasion. Her hair was also perfect…same with her accessories…I'm jealous!
Lisa - I would be shocked if she didn't look absolutely perfect! Metallic gown with waist cinching belt looks like it was made for her body. Definitely something to envy!
To round out Stef's top five...

January Jones
Stef - Can January Jones ever go wrong? She paid homage to her character in Mad Men with this old Hollywood look, complete with glamorous hair, a show-stopping lace dress, and perfect makeup.
Lisa - Didnt care for the look although January is relevant every month of the year cause she is just downright beautiful!

Julia Styles
Stef - Ombre is back! I love this dress for its simplicity and elegance. The earrings are a nice touch, and it's almost nice that she went minimal on the accessories. Perfection.
Lisa - Felt like my daughter could have made this look...hmmm
To round out Lisa's top five...

Sofia Vergara
Lisa - This siren wears dresses that completely showcase her assets...criss cross front is incredibly flattering and cobalt blue makes quite a statement. Perfection.
Stef - I wish the dress didn't plunge as much as it did. She has an amazing body, but there was just a little too much cleavage. But all in all, she looked gorgeous as always - and blue is definitely my new favorite dress color!

Kim Kardashian
Lisa - like her or not...this eggplant Marchesa gown with sequin embellishments is OUTstanding! She looks stunning with side swept dark hair...LOOOOOOVE it!
Stef - The plum fabric was gorgeous against her skin tone, but I hated the rest of it. It's more of a pageant dress than anything else.
I think we love this part as much as we do those that excel...now for those that need to re-think their stylists~

Winona Ryder
Stef - I feel so bad saying this because she's one of my favorite actresses, but she looks like a distressed bride whose husband-to-be left her at the altar with nothing but a bad princess gown and a tacky black clutch.
Lisa - Lost me at exposed tulle petticoat...and if ya only knew HOW much I loved tulle!

Christina Hendricks
Stef - I think I discovered why Mad Men didn't win for "Best Ensemble in a TV Drama." It was because of this disgusting mess. The dress looks like a sparkly 80s bathrobe that does absolutely nothing for her figure except accentuate all the wrong areas. And for the love of god, if you're as pale as Casper, DON'T wear a sparkly black dress and black liner! Unless you want to look goth, of course.
Lisa - Was she preparing for below freezing temps? Is this a parka? Where is the red carpet dress? L'WRE(n)CK Scott Gown!
=
Nicole Kidman
Stef - So…is this the SAG awards or a funeral? After seeing so many disgusting, depressing black dresses on the red carpet, it's hard to say otherwise.
Lisa - She is such a beautiful woman why does she insist on so much black...does nothing for her! whaaaa whaaaa

Angie Harmon
Stef - This is a wedding gown gone bad. A pink, feathered wedding dress, at that.
Lisa - Not even sure she knew where she was going...extra for Sesame Street? Made me think of many formerly feathered geese washed with a red sweater.

Jennifer Lawrence
Stef - Again, it looks like a bad prom dress or something you'd wear 15 years ago. The shoes are atrocious, and the black belt looks hideous against the hot pink.
Lisa - Didnt realize Body Glove was making a come back!
We can't forget the absolute tragedies...tied for the worst dressed celebrity at the SAG Awards…(drumroll, please)~

Jane Lynch
Stef - WHAT is she thinking? Taffeta, periwinkle, and pouf shouldn't be put together in the same sentence, but if you're describing this god awful concoction - then you can't avoid it.
Lisa - For the love of a merciful God...REALLY? This wouldn't be pretty in the 90's! Periwinkle conjurs up hideous bridesmaid dresses with matching satin shoes from Bakers.

Helena Bonham Carter
Stef - Why does she insist on looking like a crazed doll every time she goes to one of these things? There's a rat hiding in her hair, and a cat desperately tried to get it by tearing and scratching at her dress, resulting in a horrendous mess
Lisa - I have decided she is a walking Bratz doll that channels Cher in Moonstruck at every turn!
Stay tuned for some Grammy coverage followed by the motherload of fashion fun with the Oscars...

It's been a very fashionable week so far!

Michelle Obama's fitted, classic gray dress by Rachel Roy was the perfect outfit for last night's State of the Union address by President Obama. Add some metallic bangles, sparkly drop earrings and a black and white ribbon clip, and you have the epitome of a classy, elegant First Lady.

Breaking news: Natalie Portman's engagement ring is vegan! Can't say I'm too surprised, though. It's classified as vegan because it's made of certified conflict-free diamonds and recycled platinum. Gorgeous!

Karl Lagerfeld's runway show in Paris showcased some of the most gorgeous, delicate pieces I've seen from a designer in a long time. His collection for Chanel Spring 2011 consisted of designs created with webs of embroidered pieces and strings of beading. The beads illuminated off the runway like sparkling fresh snow touched by rays of morning sunlight. I just wish I was there in person to see the show!

Last night Jessica Alba graced the red carpet in yet another amazing dress by Gucci (I was obsessed with another Gucci dress she wore on the red carpet years ago). I'm officially in love with sparkly mini-dresses.
